Monday Night Meetings

A message from Melanie, Head Wreck

Happy Halloween, Wrecks,                                                    10-17-21

Some of this is repetitive, some new, but we haven’t heard from everyone after the last email, so we’ll give you another chance to follow through with items at the bottom of the email.  See the new To-Do list below.

Our first meeting of the 2021-22 season is just a week from tomorrow!  Get out your Halloween costume and get ready. We will have our traditional
HALLOWEEN COSTUME CONTEST/KICKOFF MEETING - Monday, October 25th at the Sabine Sandbar at 6:00 pm.To celebrate the first time we get together in two years, the board is purchasing a pony keg of Ultra, so there will be free beer for Wrecks members.  Please send in your membership application (located under the “Membership” tab and in your email) so you can pick up your membership card to be identified to get your beer and food.  There will be Happy Hour prices on wine and well drinks.  The Sandbar will feed us Peel ‘n’ Eat Shrimp with Potatoes and Ccorn.  Prizes of $30, $20, and $10 will be awarded to the top three winners of the Costume Contest.

November 1st - we meet at the Sandshaker.  They will have Happy Hour drink prices and pizza.

As previously stated, the 2021-22 Mardi Gras season will be different.  The board will monitor the Covid situation and contact Beach venues regarding their ability to host us. We will not publish a season schedule as usual.  Rather we will attempt to schedule a month or at least two weeks, in advance, so don’t skip reading your emails.  Get in the habit of checking the krewe’s website for current news:  www.kreweofwrecks.com.   Plans for the big events will be finalized in December, so no event tickets will be sold until then.

Most of you have heard of the passing of 2013 First Mate Bobbi Cunningham.  Please check the In Memoriam tab on the Krewe of Wrecks Facebook page for more information:  www.kreweofwerecks.com

What’s New

  • There will be a message board posted as you enter for the meetings.  Please check the board for information
  • We will observe Covid protocols (see below)
  • We will ask you to RSVP to the weekly emails to let us know how many to expect, so we can notify the venue

Your TO-DO LIST

_____Print, fill in and send in your Membership Application. Then you can pick up your membership card from Kathy at the meeting.  Hooray for you if you’ve already done this.

_____Respond to this email if you will attend the October 25 meeting and include who is coming with you.  This way we can give the host venue a head count so they will have an idea of how much food to prepare.

_____Print and fill in your Costume Costume Contest entry form to give Melanie.

We will have membership application forms at the meetings, but if you turn them in at meetings, be prepared to wait until the following meeting to get your membership cards.  We also will have costume contest registration forms at the meeting Monday.  Please fill out the Membership application even though you’ve been a member for many years.

This is the first year we have to have the prefix on your phone number.  Every year I discover new phone numbers, home addresses, email addresses, or typos in earlier records.  I try to double check and correct any changes or errors.

Krewe of Wrecks Covid Guidelines

In the interest of protecting everyone, the Board of Directors of the Krewe of Wrecks (KOW) has adopted the following Covid Guidelines for participants in the 2021-2022 KOW Mardi Gras season events; including meetings, breakfasts and dinners and events.

  • You may NOT participate unless you are fully vaccinated against the Covid virus.
  • You may NOT participate if, within the past 10 days, (a) you have been out of the country, or (b) you have personally exhibited any Covid symptoms (fever, cough, body aches, etc.) or have been near anyone who has Covid or its symptoms.
  • The KOW retains the right (but not the obligation) to request to see proof of vaccination.
  • At this time, KOW recommends, but does not mandate, the use of masks at KOW functions, nor does it specify social distancing requirements.  KOW members are encouraged to follow their own guidelines on such matters.

Thank you,

Melanie, Head Wreck
